Australian Team Selection for 2014 Worlds

by Daen Dorazio

As previously advised, the formula for selection of the Australian team for the 2014 World Championships (Dec '14/Jan '15) is as follows:

The first boat picked will be the first Junior competitor at the 2014 Australian National Championships (Dec '13/Jan '14), providing she/he is of a competitive standard and will still be eligible to enter as a Junior competitor at the 2014 World Championships.

The balance of the team will be made up of competitors who have agreed to sail in the Worlds and who make up the allocated places (or number of places allocated, less three) in the fleet from the 2014 Australian National Championships.  Two further places will be allocated entirely at the discretion of the national committee.

At his time, the national committee has decided to allocate the first 30 places in the Australian team, not including those entrants who have automatic entry. This is expected to increase in the coming months as any further surplus places from other countries are reallocated by OKDIA.

Over the coming week, provisional entrants will be progressively advised as to whether they have been allocated a place in the Australian team, and payment of the entry fee will be requested.

Any Australians who intend to enter the worlds should lodge their provisional entry via the Black Rock Yacht Club or worlds web pages as soon as possible.
