OKDIA News and Information - Sep '15

by Robert Deaves

Just a brief update on news from OKDIA

1. 2016 World Championships in Quiberon, France
The dates have been set for 22-29 July. The provisional schedule is

Friday 22- Saturday 23 - Registration
Friday 22- Sunday 24 - Measurement and self-certification
Saturday 24 – Opening Ceremony
Sunday 24 - Practice Race
Monday 25- Friday 29 – Racing
Friday 29 – Prizegiving dinner

We hope to be introducing a few new ideas at this event including strict registration cut-off on Saturday, and self-certification for as much of the measurement process as possible.

The event will be open entry, so national quotas will not apply. Pre-registration is available at:
http://2016.okworlds.org/interested-competitors/ and we already have 55 pre-entries.

At the moment all entries and entry fees still have to pass through your National Association, but we are looking at ways to streamline that process.

2. Minutes of the 2015 OKDIA AGM in Puck, Poland
These are now posted on the OKDIA website at: http://okdia.org/association/index.php#agenda

3. OK Dinghy e-News
This should be going out this week, so if you have any OK news you’d like to share with everyone please send to publicity@okdia.org as soon as possible.

4. European Championship 2016-2019
One of the changes voted on at the AGM was to have a European Championship every year. This is intended to be a 3-4 day event (using existing events wherever possible) when the worlds are in the northern hemisphere and a 4-5 day event when the worlds are down under. We hope to announce the venue soon for 2016 and the Danish association is keen to hold in 2017. We are trying to get venues in place up to 2019 as soon as possible.
